Wisdom from Colton to Caden this morning -
“Caden, you just gotta stop trying to give hugs to people who don’t want them. Find the people that do and they will hug you back “
Such simple truths from the mouth of babes. Love how Coltons brain thinks so clearly and precisely. When he was little he would share the most obvious glaring truth in the room, the kind nobody talked about but it was all true. At times it could make you nervous over what others would say or think. But was he grew older and older and I am the mom of a child with Asperger’s grew more and more confident. I realized it really didnt matter what others said or thought, But all too often we so allow that fear to grip and control our lives.
This simple truth he shared with Caden this morning after he was looking for a dose of his love language from his baby brother, who at the moment was just waking up, and not really ready. He Was pushed away and you could see his little heart taking it so personally. That’s when Colton looked up from doing dishes after breakfast and shared his tidbit of truth.
How often are we trying to “hug” people that dont want our hugs? How often are limiting our ability to hug those we actually do want then and need them for that matter, because we’ve yet again allowed our feelings to be hurt because we keep hugging people that dont want it.
What if instead we surrounded ourselves with people that do what hugs and that are actually going to hug us back?
This is your warning: we’re a bunch of huggers over here!
