It's not that we don't have enough time in our day, it's that we don't manage the time we do have well.
What if you could learn to manage your time and be more effective without the overwhelm?
Time management is the process of organizing and planning how to divide your time between different activities. Get it right and you'll end up working smarter, not harder, to get more done in less time – even when time is tight, and pressures are high.
Finding balance in my mom life and in my business was essential for the happiness of my home and my sanity. If I am being honest, this is an area that I really needed a lot of work on. In the early days of raising my babies 23 years ago, I flew by the seat of my pants and never made a schedule, didn't even own a calendar, and had never heard of time blocking. As we had more babies and became outnumbered, I started to realize that an organized life was something that I needed to learn how to have and do. It has created so much time freedom for me at this stage in raising littles and still raising young adult children too. I might not get it right all the time, but it does offer me the ability to still build my multi-million-dollar business and be fully preset with our children and family life at the same time.
It takes effort but once you dial in your time blocking routine and find a schedule that work for you it will limit your overwhelm and help you to be more productive in your day-to-day activities. So, the laundry still gets done but you are still moving the needle forward every day in your business.
Family Calendar
We have a family command center - aka hallway check in calendar, dry erase board and single location where everyone can see every day what is happening in the house. From orthodontist appointments to youth night at church, Mommy's team trainings or corporate calls, it's all in one spot.
No matter how old your children are, sharing expectations helps to bring everyone on the same page. When they know what is happening, where they need to be, and what they will be doing it creates security in their little hearts. Then when your work window opens, they know that Mommy has to hop on a call, a zoom call, or take a meeting they are prepared for it as well. It's not a surprise.
Family calendars and command centers have been a sanity saver for this mama too- it did take a little bit of training for the family but now they know to check there every morning, it's become part of their morning routine, as much as brushing their teeth.
Your number one team is in your own home, getting everyone on the same page and working in the same direction for the family goal is the key.

Monotasking vs Multitasking
This permanent state of distraction is so infused into our daily lives that much of the time we hardly even notice ourselves succumbing to it. How often do you find yourself mindlessly thumbing away at your phone, with no recollection of having picked it up? You log into Pinterest "really quick" to find a recipe for the kids after school snack and an hour has gone by and you don't even know where the time went. Or TikTok sends a little alert and your phone pings and you get sucked into the vortex of watching 15 second reels for an hour.
While we may consider interruptions in our day-to-day lives mostly harmless, what can happen is that we are being pulled in too many directions all at one time.
We even tell ourselves at times that this is just proof of our ability to juggle our workload and multi-task, but did you know that studies have shown this to be hugely disruptive. Multitasking has been said to be a mom's best friend we even take it on as a badge and wear it with honor. Have you ever said, "I'm the queen of multitasking," or seen the shirt, "Chaos Coordinator?" I want to challenge you in this thinking for a minute.
When we are doing too many things at one time, we end up not doing any of them well or 100%, often times it's that analogy of the laundry; you know that one where you start the laundry and walk away to do the dishes, then stop to help the kid with the homework, then answer the text real quick, and come back to the kid. Days go by and the laundry is still in the wash... that's multitasking.

Time-Blocking is your new BFF
If there's one thing that can be said about the modern workplace, especially working from home or phone, it's this: If you don't control your schedule, it will control you.
How do you balance the meetings, messages, team chat, and "busy work" with focused time for the things you truly care about? Since becoming a digital hermit isn’t an option for most of us, we need concrete strategies to help us focus in a world designed to distract us.
That’s where time blocking comes in.
~ Time blocking is a simple, yet effective way to take back control of your mompreneur life.

Braindumping
Yes, it's a thing! When I first heard this term, I wasn't sure what it was, but it has been a valuable tool that if you can implement it every day helps you to stay on track with your goals, your dreams, your tasks, and busy mompreneur life.
Some incredible tips to start brain dumping is to keep a notepad and a pen by your bed and, every night before you go to sleep, write down all the things going on in your head. This is huge for those overthinkers out there, like me. It helps to get it all out and helps to create a good night's sleep too.
This brain dump for me then turns into a to-do list the following day where I can tackle the things I need to get done as I prioritize them into immediate needs all the way down to what can be delegated or given to someone else to do.
For example, team training can be delegated to other leaders within the organization, and laundry can be delegated to the 12-year-old as a chore, but listening to that personal growth or leadership podcast has to be a priority that no one can do for me but myself.
“It’s not even right to complain or whine to others about how busy you are. You and I have the same amount of time in a day as Gandhi, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Mother Teresa, Michael Jordan or anyone else who has achieved greatness.” ― Rory Vaden, Procrastinate on Purpose: 5 Permissions to Multiply Your Time
Unplug !!!
Because Mompreneurs are driven, determined, diligent, dedicated and are on a mission to change our family's lives for generations to come, many of us can struggle to unplug.
Unplugging is essential for the stability of your family, your sanity, and your business as well.
Turn off your ringer at a certain point at night so that notifications don't continue to come through and distract you.
Schedule dates with your husband, even those intimate ones, after the kids go to bed. This helps with staying connected and grounded to one another.
Be intentional about scheduling quiet time in your day as well for yourself. Whether this is just a shower, a walk alone, quiet journal time, or time spent playing with the kids.
Unplugging allows you to recharge. Think of your cell phone, it gets used and abused all day and if you don't plug it in at night to charge up, what happens to it the next day? It dies and is no good to anyone. In the same way, if we don't take time to charge our own batteries then we too can become drained and won't be able to do the things we want and need to do.
"Work is important, but you also need to disconnect, to unplug at times, in order to be even more concentrated when you do work." -Massimiliano Allegri
